🏗️ From Stonework to Blueprints: A Journey Shaped for Architecture

🪨 My father introduced me to stone carving at a very young age. I was drawn to its meditative nature, the nobility of stone and the deep sense of fulfilment that comes from completing a piece of work.

📖 At the same time, The Sims and Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth left a lasting impression on me. I was fascinated by Tom Builder: following the construction site in the morning, carving stone during the day and drawing plans in the evening. I was disappointed to discover that these professions had since become separate, so I let chance decide my path. The coin landed on architecture.

🎓 Faced with the highly selective entrance exam at LuminY — of 2,500 candidates, only 10 are still practising today — I chose a technical educational path to overcome the obstacles: reinforced concrete, roadworks and utilities (VRD), earthworks. Alongside my studies, I continued designing my own projects. Those 10 years gave me a strong professional network, advanced technical expertise and even a qualification as a surveyor.

👂 My colleagues taught me something that often gets in the way of communication between design offices and construction sites: a lack of understanding of the needs on the ground. I incorporated this lesson into my philosophy: design plans for the people who will actually use them.

I founded Sanagi (さなぎ), meaning “chrysalis” in Japanese, to create and design a protective cocoon for my clients. Our designs reflect their wishes while taking into account their budget, applicable standards and planning regulations.

✏️ The result: useful, clear and practical plans. Clients feel genuinely supported, with accurate budgets, fewer revisions and less room for misunderstanding. Most of our professional partners recommend us because we never design anything that cannot actually be built.

🔥 Our strength: unwavering determination when dealing with planning authorities. This year, we helped regularise a client's house that had been renovated without the necessary compliance. Following intervention from the local authorities, the owners feared they might lose the result of a lifetime's work. Through persistent communication and dialogue, everything was brought into order. Today, they can enjoy their retirement with complete peace of mind.
