ABC Déco: Emotion First, Interior Design Second
ABC Déco was launched on 1 August 2025, driven by Audrey Cardinal's desire to work on a more personal, human scale. She founded her own business while retaining the values that mattered most throughout her previous professional experiences: adaptability, strong client relationships and bespoke solutions.
A Career That Shaped Her Bespoke Approach
For 22 years, Audrey worked in the industrial sector within the Purchasing Department, managing special orders and non-standard requests. Her day-to-day work involved handling unusual requirements, listening carefully to clients, understanding their constraints and finding the right solutions. Her administrative responsibilities also brought her into contact with numerous departments across the company.
This experience strengthened her adaptability, interpersonal skills and ability to listen, qualities she now brings to every interior design project.
Technical Training to Bring Ideas to Life
To make her career change a reality, Audrey completed a professional interior design qualification at CREAD, attending classes in person in Lyon. There, she developed the technical skills essential to her profession, including:
Producing floor plans and technical drawings
Taking measurements
Creating colour sketches
Developing 2D and 3D visualisations
A Distinctive Approach: The “Interior Design Polaroid”
During her design consultations, Audrey creates freehand concept sketches in real time. Clients can immediately visualise the direction of their future interior, almost like an instant photograph of the finished space. Developed collaboratively with the client, these sketches make decisions easier and help everyone move forward with confidence.
But before drawing anything, Audrey always asks the same question: “How do you want to feel in this room?”
For her, the desired emotional experience guides the entire project. Colours, materials and layouts come afterwards, serving that feeling.
Keeping Up with Trends and Materials
ABC Déco has established a partnership with Comptoir de l'Ours stores. Every week, Audrey meets several clients there for individual one-hour consultations.
This regular involvement keeps her immersed in the latest colour charts, wall finishes and wallpaper collections from a wide range of brands. Her up-to-date knowledge directly benefits her clients, who receive practical, precise advice informed by the latest products and trends.
