Atelier N.BARONDEAU is available for new projects
Over the years, Nicolas BARONDEAU has had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including public-access buildings, retail spaces, hotel residences, apartments for property investors and private homes.
His approach remains the same throughout: to design unique, personal spaces that tell a story or offer visitors an immersive experience. Rather than replicating passing interior design trends, he draws inspiration from broader design movements, the distinctive character of each space and personal objects. This approach allows him to create timeless, contemporary and exclusive interiors for his clients.
Nicolas enjoys working with colours, materials and lighting.
Because people live, work, move through and explore a space, he always begins by focusing on functionality, ergonomics and comfort before turning his attention to the purely decorative aspects.
For large-scale or hospitality projects, he has an established network of furniture and lighting suppliers, fabric houses, decorative accessories specialists, art dealers and providers of unique pieces, all offering carefully controlled and competitive pricing. This network enables him to maintain aesthetic consistency while respecting each project's budget constraints.
His experience in commercial interior design has given him strong construction project management skills, particularly when working to very tight deadlines and fixed budgets. He also works with a network of skilled, responsive tradespeople to deliver results that meet his clients' expectations.
Passionate about DIY and hands-on work, Nicolas regularly gets involved in the practical side of projects to ensure they fully meet our expectations, both aesthetically, technically and financially. This personal involvement allows him to keep a close eye on every detail and ensure that the original creative vision is faithfully translated into reality.
As part of his commitment to environmental responsibility, existing elements and materials can be reused wherever possible. Furniture and household appliances can also be purchased second-hand and refurbished. These choices help keep projects within strict budgets without compromising on quality.
Personal Inspirations and Artistic Influences
On a more personal note, some of Nicolas's interests offer a glimpse into his creative world and artistic sensibility.
His influences include the Art Deco movement, the Bauhaus, the architecture of Kengo Kuma, Santiago Calatrava and César Manrique, the city of Samarkand, the retail interiors of Aesop, the set design of the film Poor Things, cabinets of curiosities, the work of Georges Rousse and Mark Rothko, along with many other artists.
Nicolas is also passionate about the mountains and enjoys mountaineering, climbing and ski touring, as well as windsurfing.
He brings this distinctive sensibility to every project, creating spaces with character that tell a story.
